Teachers
All classroom teachers must be NYS certified with a degree in special education and a concentration in autism.
Teachers will be required to attend initial trainings before the start of the school, as well as ongoing trainings. These will be provided by the school district for professional development throughout the year. For more information on staff trainings click below.

Teacher Assistants & Aides
Teacher assistants and aides offer instructional and clerical support in the classroom. Their duties include preparing lesson materials, organizing documents, and instructing individuals or a small group. They can participate in parent-teacher conferences to share a student's progress and provide more insight about the student. All teacher assistants must also be NYS certified with a degree in special education. All teacher aides are required to have a post-secondary education and some degree of training in the education field.
Skills and Requirements
Classroom teachers, teacher assistants and teacher aides must have strong public speaking skills, as well as solid written communication skills. They should have a love for teaching and a passion for working with children. They must be able to instruct skills in a variety of ways according to each child's individual needs, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds. They must have strong leadership skills. but also be able to work collectively as a team for the benefit of the students. They must be well organized, accurately collect data, and effectively provide insight to ensure that all student goals are met.
