Music
Music will be taught by a Certified Music Therapist two times per week for thirty minute sessions. Music therapy is an evidence-based intervention that uses music to therapeutically address social, emotional, physical, sensory and cognitive needs of students. Participation can help students increase communication, facilitate movement, increase motivation, express emotions and increase physical coordination skills.
Art
Art will be taught by a Certified Art Therapist two times per week for thirty minute sessions. Art therapy can help students to increase communication skills, facilitate sensory integration, increase social skills and reduce stress. Art therapy will improve the physical, emotional and mental well being of participating students.
Adaptive Physical Education
Adaptive Physical Education will be taught by a Physical Education teacher three times per week for thirty minute sessions in the school gymnasium. Adaptive PE is Physical Education that is adapted or modified in order to address the needs of students with disabilities. Adaptive PE can improve motor skills and increase communication skills.
